What marketing medium is smaller and more portable than a catalog yet nearly as sophisticated as a PC? A browser-equipped cell phone. As Americans have grown increasingly attached to their cell phones, a plethora of mobile marketing opportunities are emerging. Consumers can now use their phones to keep up-to-date on online auctions, to receive shipping notifications from merchants, to be alerted of flight delays, and to receive coupon offers from nearby restaurants. Whether cell phones will become the next major shopping channel is still to be seen, but the growing prevalence of mobile devices is proving irresistible to some marketers. "It's another way to get to consumers. It's the new digital billboard," says Read Ziegler, president of Vantedge Group, an Atlanta-based market insights and analytics firm whose research points to growing mobile marketing opportunities.

Washington, Sept. 13: While Paris Hiton's latest encounter with the LA police when she got arrested on suspicion of drink-driving is still waiting to reach its final judgement, you can hear all the action on a ringtone that has been released by Oasys mobile. The "Paris D.U.I." ringtone, that dramatizes Hilton's recent arrest, was revealed September 11th and is available to download for free, reports TMZ.com. This is the second "ScandalTone" carried exclusively on Oasys Mobile. The first was another infamous DUI arrest, Mel Gibson. Hilton was arrested on September 7 in Hollywood after officers stopped her for driving erratically. Police said her blood-alcohol level was 0.08 per cent, which is the legal limit in California. However according to recent reports, the Los Angeles city attorney's office is deciding whether to file charges against Paris Hilton.
